Invisalign

An amazing alternative to braces

Invisalign is a new method of orthodontic treatment that is nearly invisible and straightens teeth faster than traditional braces. Many adults and teens choose this method over traditional metal braces because of the convenience and the look of the aligners.

Straightens teeth with no brackets, wires, or elastic bands

Invisalign uses clear, plastic aligners that fit snugly next to your teeth. The aligners are completely removable. Each aligner is worn for only two weeks. After two weeks, you simply remove the aligner and replace it with the next aligner in the series. Each aligner is designed to exert pressure on specific teeth at a specific time. The average treatment time is just 12 months with Invisalign. (Treatment times vary according to the unique needs of each patient.)

Innovative technology

First, we take photographs, x-rays, and impressions of your teeth at our office and determine the final position of your teeth. Then, we send this information to Align Technology, the manufacturerof  Invisalign, and they use advanced 3D imaging and manufacturing technology to create your customised series of aligners. The average number of aligners in a series is 24, but the number of aligners is unique to each case.

Comfortable and removable

Invisalign is comfortable because there are no brackets and wires to irritate your cheek and gum. And, because Invisalign aligners are completely removable, you may eat, brush, and floss as you usually do. There is no need to change your diet or hygiene habits.

Braces

Traditional metal braces are still a popular and excellent choice for straightening teeth and creating a properly aligned bite. At Smile For Life, we offer a variety of braces options.

Metal braces and orthodontic appliances

A very effective method for straightening teeth and correcting a misaligned bite are metal braces, sometimes in coordination with orthodontic appliances. Metal braces consist of small brackets bonded to the front surface of each tooth and connected to each other by a metal arch wire. The wire exerts force on the teeth to move them slowly to their new desired position. Orthodontic appliances can be used to expand the palate, encourage lower jaw growth, or correct other issues.

Clear braces

Some patients dislike the appearance of metal, so we offer a choice of ceramic (clear) braces. Ceramic braces are made from composite materials and blend in with your teeth so that the brackets are not as noticeable. We often put clear brackets on the front teeth and metal brackets on the back teeth, as the metal brackets are stronger than the ceramic ones. If you dislike the appearance of the metal arch wire, we offer a wire that has been coated with tooth-coloured paint.
